The rules and /or
regulations set forth herein are designed to provide for the orderly conduct of
racing events and to establish minimum acceptable requirements for such events.
These rules shall govern the condition of all events, and by participation in
these events, all participants are deemed to have compiled with these rules.
NO EXPRESSED OR IMPLIED WARRANTY OF SAFETY SHALL RESULT FROM PUBLICATIONS OF OR
COMPLIANCE WITH THESE RULES AND/OR REGULATIONS. They are intended as a guide
for the conduct of the sport and are in no way a guarantee against injury or
death to a participant, spectator, or official.
The race director shall be
empowered to permit reasonable and appropriate deviation from any of the
specifications herein or impose any further restrictions that in his opinion do
not alter the minimum acceptable requirements. NO EXPRESSED OR IMPLIED
WARRANTY OF SAFETY SHALL RESULT FROM SUCH ALTERATION OF SPECIFICATIONS. Any
interpretation or deviation of these rules is left to the discretion of the
officials. Their decision is final.

ROOKIE
QUALIFICATIONS
To be considered a rookie, a driver may have only made
a maximum of five starts in this division in their entire career. To qualify for
Rookie of the Year, the driver must compete in at least 75% of the scheduled
events. The rookie winner will be determined by how many total points they
accumulate through out the season. If there is a tie the winner will be
determined by most wins, seconds and so forth.
NOTE:
ALL engines will be required to have an eighth inch (1/8) hole drilled in
two external
head bolts for officials to seal the engines.
Roll Cage & Safety
Rules
- Main roll cages must be
4 point design with minimum 1 3/4" O.D. tubing with a minimum thickness
of .095 inch, low carbon or mild steel recommended. An inspection hole
of at least 1/8" diameter must be easily accessible. Four-post roll
cage required, front down bars and rear hoop must be welded to OEM frame.
Any welded or angle joint must have a 2" X 2" gusset welded to the
main roll cage. On full frame cars, the roll cage must be welded to the
frame at all 4 corners. Driver’s head must not protrude outside cage with
helmet on. Head clearance from top of helmet to top of roll cage will
be at least 3". No offset cages.
- All door bars and
uprights must be a minimum of 1 3/4 inch O.D. and .095 inch wall thickness.
Minimum three door bars, both drivers and passenger sides, parallel to the
ground and perpendicular to the driver. Minimum four uprights tied from
frame to top door on driver side and minimum three uprights on passenger
side. For 2006 it is mandatory that
drivers door bars be plated. Steel doorplates, 18-gauge or .049-inch minimum
thickness must be securely welded to outside of door bars on driver’s
side. Plate must cover area from top door bar to rocker panel and from rear
down post to five inches in front of seat. Must be visible for inspection.
- Rear roll bars must have
an "X" .race, consisting of one full horizontal and one full
diagonal bar, minimum 1.25-inch O.D. and .083-inch wall thickness.
Front down bars must be tied together, passenger side front down bars must
be a maximum eleven (11) inches in from top of door. Must
be minimum 40 inches between front and rear down bars at top of door panel.
Maximum 41 inches, (48 inches for 1988 - 1996 GM bodies) from top
center of windshield to front edge of rear hoop; maximum 13 inches (20
inches for 1988-1996 GM Bodies) to front edge of top halo. Top
halo must be minimum 40 inches across, outside to outside. Rear hoop may be
maximum 12 inches in from bottom of opera window. Minimum one cross bar in
top halo. May have maximum two horizontal bars, (in addition to bar tying
front frame horns together) for radiator protection: must be behind bumper,
with in confines of the body, no wider that stock frame horns.
- Minimum of three windshield bars in
front of driver.
- Drive shaft must be painted white and
drive shaft loop, metal, chain, etc is mandatory.
- Fuel cell and a tip over valve
mandatory.
Safety Equipment
- Safety belts must be 5 point approved
racing harness. Must be secured to roll cage in an approved manner.
- Aluminum high back seat only bolted to
the roll cage. Seat may be no farther back than rear edge of the B pillar on
Ford and older GM bodies.
- Roll bar padding required in driver
compartment (Fire retardant recommended).
- Driver’s window net required, minimum
16" (inch) x 20" (inch) ribbon or mesh style and must be mounted
so latch is a top front of the drivers side window.
- Kill switch is mandatory and must be
mounted with in easy reach of the driver and clearly marked ON and OFF.
Car and Body
- Any American OEM full body rear
wheel drive passenger car, 1964 or newer, full frame or uni-body passenger
cars only. No station wagons, convertibles, front wheel drives, rear-
engines or rusted and loose bodied cars permitted.
- No wheel base shorter than 107.5.
Pro AM type cars, Camaro and Nova style cars, allowed.
- Body parts must be OEM. This
includes the floor pan, in original position and centered over wheel wells.
- Body/Engine must be of same
make.
- All cars must have complete
factory floor pan and complete fire walls front and rear. No glass, mirrors,
plastic parts or moldings.
- Driver must be sealed off from
track, drive line, engine and fuel cell.
- Dash not to extend more than
24" (inches) back from center of lower windshield opening. Dash must be
flat, rear can be no higher than front, except for cowl in front of driver.
- No other interior tin or
covers. ( Dog Houses)
- Doors may be gutted; roof may
be trimmed for roll cage clearance. Kick and rocker panels may be removed.
- No cutting on floor pan, any
holes must be covered from underside with metal. Rear firewall and speaker
deck must be metal and be of OEM design for that body. Front firewall
from factory seam up may be replaced with minimum .049-inch thickness steel.
All holes in firewalls must be covered with metal.
- No mirrors or reflective sun
visors
- Wheel wells may be trimmed for tire
clearance but must retain stock appearance.
- A fuel cell must be mounted in the
trunk area in an approved manner.
- Batteries may not be mounted in
the drivers compartment. Must be in marine type case securely mounted to the
frame or roll cage in metal frame.
- No weights in the
drivers compartment. Weights must be painted white with the car number on
them. Weights must be securely mounted to the frame or roll cage with
approved weight clamps. Weights must be bolted to the frame or weight clamps
with one half inch (1/2) grade 8 bolts. No titanium, magnesium or carbon
fiber products. No gun-drilled, tubular, hollow bolts or studs.
- Front bumper
construction optional but must remain in the original position. May be
factory or tubular and may be reinforced. No bracing to exceed past
original bumper. No "cow
catcher" type additions above or below either bumper. Must be covered
by stock appearing nose and plastic. Subject to approval by JMS Officials
- All bodies must be steel or
aluminum and stock appearing. No fiberglass body parts allowed. EXCEPTION:
After market plastic nose and tail pieces allowed but must match body style.
- Hood and trunk lids must have hood-pins
and be easily removable by track officials.
- Side skirts will be allowed no
lower than 1" (inch) below the frame rail.
- Must have tow hook that is easily
accessible from both front and rear of car.
- Maximum 5" (inch)
spoiler at the rear of the trunk is allowed..
- Driver must be sealed from the track,
driveline, engine and fuel cell.
- Numbering of cars must be at
least 18" (INCHES) and 3" (inches) wide. Number must be located on
both sides of the car and the roof. If the number is unreadable you will be
notified to make necessary changes for the following week. For
2006 cars must have a 6" (inch) number on a mounting plate in the upper
right hand corner of the windshield area.
Suspension
- Factory intent stock suspension.
- All control arms and suspension
components must be factory OEM length and match OEM frame.
- Front and rear suspensions remain in
stock location. Stock A-frames may be reinforced. Tubular upper A-arms OK.
- Rubber, nylon or steel lower A frame
bushings only, no offset or bearing type.
- No sway bars.
- Weight jacks allowed however must be in
original centerline of spring tower. No devices allowed that would enable
driver adjustment to alter the wheelbase or weight jacking while car is in
competition.
- No torque arms, pull bars allowed
anywhere on rear suspension. Rear suspension must retain stock non
adjustable trailing arms.
- All rear end suspension components and
mounts must be steel, unaltered OEM, in OEM location and match frame. Rubber
or nylon control arm bushings only, no offset or bearing type. Welded
single-hole shock mounts only. Coil springs may be moved, but 50% must be
located over top of rear end housing. No independent rear suspension. Shocks
may be moved, but must remain behind housing.
- Frame rails may be no lower than
5" from ground.
- No under slung bars under rear frame.
- No rack-n-pinion steering.
- One steel spring per wheel only. All
coil springs must be minimum 4.5 inches O.D. and non progressive.
- Shocks do not have to be in stock
location how ever must be single hole shock mounts only. Shocks cannot go
through center of aftermarket upper A frames. Shocks must be steel
non-adjustable and unaltered. One shock per wheel. No coil over, air, or
remote reservoir shocks, or Schrader valves. No coil over eliminators.
- After market brake, clutch and master
cylinders allowed. No brake shut-off valves allowed and proportioning
devices must be front to rear only. All cars must have 4 brakes in working
order, one per wheel.
- No added weight can be located inside
the driver’s compartment.
- No traction control devices.
Wheels & Tires
- Any steel eight inch wide rim and must
be steel no more than 8" wide. Bead lock allowed on right rear tire
only. Oversized 1" (inch) lug nuts are mandatory.
- American Racer racing tires or
maximum tire size 255 70R/15. No 60's or 50's allowed. 6 1/2 inches wide on
the ground for passenger car tires and must have DOT number on them. American
Racer G60 (KK-704 Modified tire) will be allowed until further notice.
- No grooving, sipping, or
softening of tires allowed. Grinding or buffing will be allowed
however method will be closely scrutinized. You
may use sandpaper up to and including 24 grit to remove the glaze on the top
layer of the tires. When you are completed with sanding your tires, the
edges of the tread blocks must remain the same as the edge of the block next
to it. You will only be able to create the look of a worn tire, and not
something of a different tire face appearance. (Example: no wavy
tread pattern or deep grinding will be allowed.) Must pass Tech Inspectors
approval. Method
will be closely scrutinized.
Engine
-
Engine
of 370 cubic inch and larger must run 2 bbl 500 CFM Holly and must weigh no
less than 3200 pounds. Engines 369 cubic inch and smaller may run any
factory four barrel but no aftermarket racing type four Barrel. (Rule
modified 2/21/2006)

Cars with an engine
369 cubic inch or smaller may weigh 3000 pounds. All cars with an engine 370
cubic inches and larger must weigh no less than 3200 pounds.

No Fuel injection,
one carburetor only.
-
Adapter plate
and/or spacer & gaskets may not exceed 1-1/2 inches.
-
Alteration may
include: Choke plate may be removed. Choke housing must remain in place,
Jets and power valves may be changed, No vacuum leaks between air cleaner
and intake valves, Accelerator pump squirter may not extend into the area
directly above the venturi.
-
Unaltered cast
intake or aluminum intake that measures 3.75 inches from the top of the
block to the top of the intake for GM. Ford and Chrysler must measure 4.75
from the top of the block to the top of the intake (MAXIMUM).
-
Maximum of one 1
inch spacer between the carburetor and air cleaner " sure seal
ring" (for clearance purposes only)
-
Only one 14 inch by
4 inch thick round stock appearing air cleaner allowed.
-
No carb hats, air
boxes or other air flow devices are allowed.
-
No roller cams or
mushroom lifters
-
Stock or roller rockers
are optional.
-
Screw in or pinned rocker
studs allowed.
-
Headers will be allowed.
-
Exhaust must exit from
bottom of car and towards he rear.
-
Heads must be cast iron.
No roller camshafts allowed. No aluminum Heads allowed.
-
Drive shaft must be
painted white with car number also painted on it. A drive shaft safety loop
must be located no farther back than 8" from the transmission and must
be round in shape.
-
Approved racing gas only,
no alcohol, no mixing of fuels. No electric fuel pumps allowed. Mechanical
fuel pumps mounted in stock location only.
-
Engines must remain in
stock position. Recommended are solid motor mounts.
Transmissions
- Cars must have at least one gear
forward and one reverse plus a neutral position. With the motor running and
car in a still position, driver must be able to engage car in gear and mover
forward and then backward.
- Only OEM production type transmissions
will be allowed. No five speed transmissions in and out boxes or quick
changes devices allowed. No aftermarket transmission i.e. Berts, Brinns,
Falcons and so on.
- The flywheel / flex plate must be
bolted directly to the end of the crankshaft and the pressure plate must be
bolted directly to the flywheel. One flywheel only and all drive line
components with in the bell housing must rotate while the car is in gear.
- Manual transmissions must have a blow
proof bell housing.
- Automatic must have an approved have
scatter shield or blanket. Scatter shield may be constructed of .25 inch
steel , 270 degrees around flex plate/flywheel.
Radiators
-
No auxiliary radiators or
cooling squirters are allowed. Aluminum radiators will be allowed.
Protest
Procedures
The
following Protest Procedures are only in affect for regular points races at
Junction Motor Speedway. These rules will not apply for any specials
held at Junction Motor Speedway unless otherwise stated.
In
order for a driver to protest a car they feel is not conforming to the rules in
the class which they are competing, the following procedures must be followed:
The driver must have qualified and competed in the A feature of that nights
races.

Only
a driver may protest another car.
-
The
protesting diver must contact a JMS Official with in five (5) minuets after
the A feature has completed.

The
protesting driver must have three hundred ($300.00) dollars in cash on
him/her and give it to the JMS Official at the time of making the protest
-
The
JMS Officials will determine where the protest is to take place.
-
Only
the JMS Officials, the protesting driver and one pit crew member and he
protested driver and one pit crew member will be involved in the procedure. NO
INTERVENTION BE ALLOWED BY ANY OTHER INDIVIDUAL. THERE WILL BE A FIVE FOOT
BARRIER AROUND THE PROTEST AREA. ANYONE AND THIS MEANS FANS CREW MEMBERS
OTHER DRIVERS, ANYONE OTHER THAN THE DESIGNATED PEOPLE COME CLOSER THAN THE
FIVE FOOT BARRIER OR IN ANY WAY IMPEDES THE PROTEST PROCEDURE IN ANY WAY
VERBAL OR OTHERWISE, THE CAR BEING PROTESTED WILL LOSE ALL POINTS AND MONEY
FOR THAT NIGHT.

JMS
OFFICIALS will have at their disposal al necessary equipment to test or
check any alleged discrepancies in the rules. Junction Motor Speedway will
not advocate but may chose to tear a piece of equipment down if it is deemed
necessary. Cost, implementation, and infraction of penalties will be issued
on a case by case basis if equipment is torn down.

If
the protestor is found valid in their complaint that driver will have their
three hundred ($300.00) dollars returned.
-
If
the car being protested is found to be illegal, the driver will lose all
points and money earned that night.
-
If
a car is found guilty on another rules violation from that point on during
the season, that car will lose all points for the season to that date of the
second infraction. The car will also lose all money for that night of racing
and lose all qualifications for the season to the point of the second
infraction qualifying the driver for year end points money.

If
the protestor's claims are found invalid Junction Motor Speedway will keep
the $300.00 and that money will go into the point fund for that class.
