III. Engine
Rule
Note: Recommendation for all classes with
compression limits: During any future head removal or rebuilds of your engine,
please have 2 adjacent head bolts on the right and left head drilled with a 1/8th
inch hole for safety wiring and sealing. If you should happen to be teched at
the track as part of our normal inspection process and you passed, this will
allow us to “seal” your engine. As long as the seals are place and not
tampered with, we will know that engine is legal by removing the valve cover.
We’d also like you to have 2 adjacent intake bolts on the right and left sides
drilled for the same purpose. Our Tech Inspectors will be willing
to come to your shop to “pre-tech” your engine subject to time and
availability. If
the inspector “pre-techs” your engine at your home, shop or engine
builder’s there will be a least a $50 fee, payable to the inspector to
compensate them for their time and travel. When the inspector arrives you should
be ready to finish assembling your engine. You must have one cylinder head and
the oil pan off the engine. Two adjacent head bolts (for each head), two
adjacent intake bolts and two adjacent oil pan bolts should be drilled with 1/8th
holes for the safety wire to pass through. The inspector will expect you to
finish assembling the engine after the proper checks have been made. This
pre-tech option is highly recommended. We as tech inspectors encourage this to
help minimize at track tear downs and protest. Please exercise this option if
you can. Call John Fern (402-984-6329)
if you have questions.
A)
Engines must have the following specified stroke: GM 3.48”, Ford 3.50” and
Mopar 3.578”. The maximum bore for any engine is 4.060”. Crank and rod assy.

Engine Claim Rule
A) WARNING
- Any evidence of a competitor or crewman threatening with verbal abuse,
physical harm or retaliation will subject the offender(s) to stiff fines,
suspension and/or criminal prosecution.
B) $1000
cash claim on complete engine, including heads and intake, less items listed in
item A below. $25 of this goes to the wrecker for pulling the engine. The
claiming driver has 5 minutes to make a claim and the claimed driver has 5
minutes to decide whether he or she will accept the $975, or make a counter
claim for the claimer's engine. In the event of a counter claim, the claiming
driver will pay an additional $25 for the second wrecker to pull the engine. In
the event of a cross manufacturer claim, the claimee also has the option of
electing to do a “complete swap” that includes bell housing, starter,
headers, radiator and hoses, fuel pump, distributor assembly and wires, water
pump, pulleys and belts. Any motor that is claimed
must be run the following event by the “CLAIMER” or they will not be allowed
to compete until they do so.
C)
Claim does not include - 1.Flywheel, 2.Clutch, 3. Pressure plate. 4.Bellhousing.
5. Headers. 6. Carburetor. 7. Starter. 8. Motor mounts. 9. Sending units. 10.

claim area, and are subject to claim by any other driver finishing FIFTH (5TH)
through SIXTEENTH (16th) in the “A” feature and is on the lead
lap. Failure to report directly to claim area will result in disqualification
and loss of money and points for that night of racing (engine is still
claimable). In case of multiple claims on the same engine, a drawing will be
held to determine which driver gets the engine. Should the first eligible driver
withdraw his claim, he will receive a $200 fine and the next qualified driver
will be awarded the engine. The claim is not charged to those not awarded the
claim. A 5th car from the “A” feature will be selected each night
for tech inspection after the feature.
E)
Driver making the claim must drive his/her racecar immediately after finish of
feature, under its own power, directly to claiming area. Only involved drivers
and officials will be allowed in claiming area.
F)
Claim must be made to tech official within 5 minutes after end of feature race,
and claimed engine must be completely removed within one hour from the time
claim is made and driver agrees to sell engine.
G) Claims must be made in cash only and the driver must carry the
cash.
H)
Only the driver can make an engine claim and only the driver may agree to sell
or refuse to sell the engine
I)
Promoter may claim the engine of any driver finishing in the top ten immediately
following feature, unless that driver has made a legal claim in that event.
Driver claims takes precedence over a promoter claim.
J)
Refusal to sell forfeits all cash, trophies and contingency winnings for night
and the right to claim in any class for the remainder of the points season. Any
driver refusing to sell their engine, when claimed within rules, will be subject
to the car and driver being suspended from JMX and the claim compact tracks. The
claim is not charged to claiming driver in case of refusal.
K)
First refusal will be a 4 race night suspension from JMS (30 days for Claim
Compact tracks), a $1000 fine payable to JMS for the point fund and loss
of points accumulated to date. Second refusal will result in suspension from JMS
for the remainder of the year, loss of all points for the year and a $2500 fine
payable to JMS for the point fund. If refusal takes place during the last two
weeks of the season the suspension will be for 4 race nights, including
next season, and a $1000 fine if the first refusal and $2500 fine if it is the
second refusal.
L)
Once an engine claim has been made and accepted, the engine is not to be
started, under any circumstances. The car is to be pushed to the area where
removal will take place. All claimed engines must be removed from the car at the
track; buyer must examine engine before removal, once removal is started, sale
is final.
M) Both engines must tech legal for the claim to be valid.
N)
The cylinder block may not be altered in such a way as to prevent it from being
used in a stock application. Stock approved OEM components must be able to be
immediately used in their stock location. Any sabotage discovered to claimed
engine will result in driver being suspended for two race nights from JMS.
Drivers are to be held accountable for any sabotage discovered while pulling the
engine, and will be responsible for any and all penalties as a result of any
sabotage. The claim will be disallowed and the money returned to the claimer.
O) No driver may claim more than two engines during a calendar
year.
P)
Claim is in effect on opening night for all eligible drivers. Anyone making a
claim on the first two nights must have finished in the top 30 in season points
the previous year. After that, the driver must have raced the two previous race
nights and competed in at least 50% or more of the events held to date to claim.
Q)
No one driver may claim any other one driver more than once during current
calendar year.
R)
A disqualification (from other than an engine violation) will not affect a legal
claim. The engine will be pulled and transferred prior to any penalties being
assessed.
S)
Un-sportsmanlike conduct during the claim procedure or while pulling the engine,
will result in an immediate $100 minimum fine plus loss of money and/or points
for the night. (Determined by Promoter)
T)
Any person
owning more than one car may not claim if one of his cars finishes in the top
six positions.
