The rules and /or
regulations set forth herein are designed to provide for the orderly conduct of
racing events and to establish minimum acceptable requirements for such events.
These rules shall govern the condition of all events, and by participation in
these events, all participants are deemed to have compiled with these rules.
NO EXPRESSED OR IMPLIED WARRANTY OF SAFETY SHALL RESULT FROM PUBLICATIONS OF OR
COMPLIANCE WITH THESE RULES AND/OR REGULATIONS. They are intended as a guide
for the conduct of the sport and are in no way a guarantee against injury or
death to a participant, spectator, or official.
The race director shall be
empowered to permit reasonable and appropriate deviation from any of the
specifications herein or impose any further restrictions that in his opinion do
not alter the minimum acceptable requirements. NO EXPRESSED OR IMPLIED
WARRANTY OF SAFETY SHALL RESULT FROM SUCH ALTERATION OF SPECIFICATIONS. Any
interpretation or deviation of these rules is left to the discretion of the
officials. Their decision is final.
GENERAL
New for

On any given night the Cruisers must be prepared to race on either the
big or little track without prior notice !!

ROOKIE
QUALIFICATIONS
To be considered a rookie, a driver may have only made
a maximum of five starts in this division in their entire career. To qualify for
Rookie of the Year, the driver must compete in at least 75% of the scheduled
events. The rookie winner will be determined by how many total points they
accumulate through out the season. If there is a tie the winner will be
determined by most wins, seconds and so forth.
NOTE:
ALL engines will be required to have an eighth inch (1/8) hole
drilled in two external
head bolts for officials to seal the engines.
Cars /
Trucks
-
1.Minimum
108" wheelbase. Left side driver controls the steering and brake. Right
side driver controls the throttle. Throttle must be a maximum of 12"
from inside the passenger door. Clutch Pedal Must remain in Stock
Location.
Safety
- 1. Six point, full
perimeter roll cage with an X brace in rear and rear kickers must be used.
Kickers must be tied to the frame, in front of the rear-end. Minimum of 1 ½"
pipe for the cage. Cage must have 1 cross brace in the halo and must have X
brace behind the seat, with a minimum of 3 door bars on both doors. Cars may be braced through the front firewall from the front of the
roll cage to the rear of the front A frames on both sides only. Roll cages
may be braced from the rear of the roll cage to in front of the rear end.
Bracing may be done to the front and rear frame kick ups only. Full front
and rear hoops will not be allowed. It is mandatory
that drivers door bars be plated on both sides of the car. Steel
doorplates, 18-gauge or .049-inch minimum thickness must be securely welded
to outside of door bars on driver’s side. Plate must cover area from top
door bar to rocker panel and from rear down post to five inches in front of
seat. Must be visible for inspection.
- Roll bar padding is required.
Fire retardant padding is recommended.
- Both drivers must have
an approved full-face helmet.
- Must have 5 point racing
safety belts. (Sternum Strap recommended) Belts must be mounted to the cage.
- Window nets are required on
both sides.
- Remove all glass.
- Doors must be securely
fastened.
- Racing Fuel Cell is required
and must be secured to the car frame.
- Aluminum racing
seats are MANDATORY.
Seats must be attached to the roll cage and the floor.
- Must have a
minimum of 4 windshield bars in front of each driver.
- Both drivers must be at
least 16 years old.
Body
-
1. No
modifications to factory steel body. The only cutting allowed will be for the placement of
the roll cage. No spoilers, air scoops, or anything that alters the stock
appearance. Working horn and car radio optional. No grill or bumper
reinforcement. Must be stock bumper. Trunk and hood must have 2 hood pins
with hinges remaining, or 4 hood pins. No ballast allowed. May
have 1 bar maximum, 1 ½ inch pipe in front of radiator, behind bumper, for
radiator protection. Down posts
may be no wider than the frame, with supports no farther back than 24 inches
from the front of the radiator.
May run 2 inch by 1 inch rub rail from rear of front fender well to front of
rear well.
Engine and
Carburetor
-
1. NO 4
barrel Holley or racing carburetor. Must run a stock carburetor. This means
completely unaltered! Choke must remain in the carburetor. May
change jets. May run approved 1 inch thick open chambered spacer. May run 4
barrel to 2 barrel nonadjustable adapter. May not run both spacer and an
adapter. Engines over 370 C.I.D. must run 2 barrel carburetor, Optional on
smaller engines. Engines must be strictly stock for that model and make in
the original mounts. Stroke must match block. Harmonic balancer may not be
altered. Cylinder heads must be unaltered, approved OEM. No aluminum or
aftermarket heads. No headers, must be cast iron exhaust manifolds. Exhaust
must exit under vehicle. No aluminum water pumps on GM cars. No full roller
or roller tip rocker arms. No roller lifters. No stud girdles. Stock valve
covers only. No ignition control boxes allowed, OEM ignition only. Hydraulic
cam and lifters only. Engine must produce a minimum if 15 inches of
vacuum @ 1,000 RPM, measured from a port off the base plate of the
carburetor. Must have a port available for testing. No vacuum canisters
allowed. Intake must be cast steel. Must remain unaltered. No High rise
intakes. Engines will be required to have no more than 160#’s compression.
Fuel injection is only allowed if it came on that car as factory equipment,
and must remain unaltered. If OEM fuel injected there must be an electric
disconnect for safety.
Suspension and
Steering
-
1. Must be the
original OEM type suspension and steering to match the frame. No add-on
quick steer boxes. Stock springs only. All shocks must be approved OEM car
shocks. No racing or heim end shock. No spacers, lumber, chains, or cables
allowed. Only 1 spring and 1 shock per wheel.
Battery &
Cooling
-
1. One 12-volt
battery only, must be securely mounted and in an approved metal frame.
Radiator must remain in factory location.
Drive Train
-
1.Drive shaft
must be painted white. A 360-degree drive shaft loop is required and must be
constructed of at least quarter-inch by two-inch steel, or one inch tubing,
and should be mounted six inches back from the front U-joint. Must run OEM
approved transmission with original bell housing and functional torque
converter, (or Factory clutch assembly.) containing a minimum of three
quarts of fluid. Recommended transmissions have an approved scatter shield
or blow Proof bell housing (may be constructed of ½" by 3" steel,
270 degrees around flex plate.

2.Flywheel must
be stock, NO LIGHT WEIGHT STUFF. I.E. Chevy 160 tooth 13 ¼ flywheel.
Factory Clutch Disc only.
Wheels and Tires
-
1.Any DOT tire
up to 60 series. No mud and snow tires. Required ½" studs with 1"
lug nuts. Must have all lug nuts on wheels. No bead locks. Maximum 8 inch
steel wheel. May run IMCA modified tires, 5/32" tread maximum. No
grooving and siping. Must be same size from side to side I.E. RR-LR, RF-LF.
Brakes
-
1.Approved
OEM brakes for the make and model of car being entered on all four wheels
that must work. No brake bias
controls, shut off valves or any devise used to manually adjust the brakes.
Rear-End
-
1.MUST BE STOCK.
May be locked. No Floaters.
Car Number
-
1.All numbers
must be a least 18" in height, on both doors and on the top of the car.
Maximum of 2 digits and 1 letter. No decimal points! NUMBERS MUST BE
LEGIBLE! Numbers must be in a contrasting color from the car, in all light
conditions.
Weight
-
All cars must weigh 3800 pounds. If weight must be added to meet the
weight rule, the weight must be mounted inside the trunk over the rear end
housing only. Crate Motors may weigh 200# less or a total of 3600#. Weight placement and mounting will be monitored by Tech
Officials.
K.I.S.S.
(Keep It Safe and
Simple) If it does not say yes then it is no! This is an entry level class.

Protest Procedures
The
following Protest Procedures are only in affect for regular points races at
Junction Motor Speedway. These rules will not apply for any specials
held at Junction Motor Speedway unless otherwise stated.
In
order for a driver to protest a car they feel is not conforming to the rules in
the class which they are competing, the following procedures must be followed:
The driver must have qualified and competed in the A feature of that nights
races.
-
Only
a driver may protest another car.
-
The
protesting diver must contact a JMS Official with in five (5) minuets after
the A feature has completed.
-
The
protesting driver must have three hundred ($300.00) dollars in cash on
him/her and give it to the JMS Official at the time of making the protest
-
The
JMS Officials will determine where the protest is to take place.
-
Only
the JMS Officials, the protesting driver and one pit crew member and he
protested driver and one pit crew member will be involved in the procedure. NO
INTERVENTION BE ALLOWED BY ANY OTHER INDIVIDUAL. THERE WILL BE A FIVE FOOT
BARRIER AROUND THE PROTEST AREA. ANYONE AND THIS MEANS FANS CREW MEMBERS
OTHER DRIVERS, ANYONE OTHER THAN THE DESIGNATED PEOPLE COME CLOSER THAN THE
FIVE FOOT BARRIER OR IN ANY WAY IMPEDES THE PROTEST PROCEDURE IN ANY WAY
VERBAL OR OTHERWISE, THE CAR BEING PROTESTED WILL LOSE ALL POINTS AND MONEY
FOR THAT NIGHT.
-
JMS
OFFICIALS will have at their disposal al necessary equipment to test or
check any alleged discrepancies in the rules. Junction Motor Speedway will
not advocate but may chose to tear a piece of equipment down if it is deemed
necessary. Cost, implementation, and infraction of penalties will be issued
on a case by case basis if equipment is torn down.
-
If
the protestor is found valid in their complaint that driver will have their
three hundred ($300.00) dollars returned.
-
If
the car being protested is found to be illegal, the driver will lose all
points and money earned that night.
-
If
a car is found guilty on another rules violation from that point on during
the season, that car will lose all points for the season to that date of the
second infraction. The car will also lose all money for that night of racing
and lose all qualifications for the season to the point of the second
infraction qualifying the driver for year end points money.
-
If
the protestor's claims are found invalid Junction Motor Speedway will keep
the $300.00 and that money will go into the point fund for that class.
Decisions of track
officials are final and binding without exception.
